Wool N' Things - What's New

Enjoy a one day creative knitting workshop with Brandon Mably from the Kaffe Fassett Design Studio. This workshop will be for knitters who are interested in sharpening their color observation in design. The workshop is limited to 30 students.

Participants should know how to knit and purl - only the basic stocking stitch will be used in the workshop. This course inspires knitters to sharpen their observation of color by working with a wide range of yarns. The experience gained should give knitters the confidence to use their own personal color scheme in any of their own designs in the future. Brandon will bring a selection of inspirational postcards and some of his knitted designs.

The workshop will last for 6 working hours with a 1 hour break for lunch. Lunch and coffee breaks to be provided during the day.

The Kaffe Fassett "Kaleidoscope of Colour" lecture is designed to inspire and motivate. The power point presentation highlights works from his latest projects - these will include his patchwork quilt designs, needlepoint, mosaic, painting and his knitting designs. A tremendous amount of Fassett's inspiration comes from the past and his lecture is designed not so much to instruct, but to empower and inspire the audience to create their "mind's eye". Audiences leave invigorated - entranced by Fassett's use of (and sense of) color. They are ready to try it themselves, and are encouraged to do so.

The slide show lasts approximately 45 minutes followed by a question-and-answer session and a book signing.
